After two months of intensive training, this year's amateur radio course at Radio klub „Nikola Tesla“ Banja Luka has been successfully completed, one of the most attended education cycles the club has organized in recent years.
The training began on 1 April 2026 and lasted the following two months, with two sessions per week. As we previously reported in the article „Great interest in the amateur radio course in Banja Luka“, this year's course attracted more than 40 interested candidates of various ages and professional backgrounds.
During the training, participants had the opportunity to gain theoretical and practical knowledge in radio technology, radio wave propagation, operating amateur radio equipment, international communication rules, operating procedures and proper conduct on amateur radio frequencies.
Exams organized in two sessions
After completing the training, participants were able to take the amateur radio exam and obtain the appropriate amateur radio licence. Due to the large number of new members and candidates, the exam was organized in two separate sessions.
Of the total of 28 candidates who took the exam, 22 passed the exam for the CEPT category, while six new members passed the exam for the Novice category.
The CEPT category represents a higher, internationally harmonized level of amateur radio licence, which allows operation on a larger number of amateur radio bands and facilitates licence recognition in countries that apply CEPT recommendations. The Novice category is intended for beginners and represents the first level of licence with certain restrictions, after which radio amateurs can continue their training and take the exam for a higher category.
New operators become part of the amateur radio community
By obtaining licences, the new radio amateurs gained the ability to operate independently on permitted amateur radio frequencies, establish contacts with operators from the country and around the world, participate in contests, field activities and technical projects, as well as to further develop their knowledge in electronics and radio communications.
We are particularly pleased by the fact that a large number of participants expressed a desire to continue coming to the club after the course, working practically on radio stations and joining future activities of Radio klub „Nikola Tesla“ Banja Luka.
We congratulate all candidates on passing the exam and wish them many successful radio contacts, new acquaintances and interesting experiences on the amateur radio frequencies.
Welcome to the world of amateur radio and the large international amateur radio community!
